Event Details

The Globalization Studies Network (GSN) and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) are pleased to invite participation in the fourth GSN Conference, to be held at CIGI on 25-27 August 2008. As at all GSN conferences, paper and panel proposals are welcomed on all aspects of globalization research.

The special theme of the fourth GSN conference is curbing the uncivil potentials of contemporary globalization. Today’s trends towards a more global world involve productive forces of “civil society” that can help to uplift millions from poverty, deprivation and degradation. At the same time, however, globalization can also unleash destructive forces of “uncivil society.”

While we are currently accepting paper and panel proposals, we also welcome general attendance. Open registration is $250 CAD, which includes all meals and transportation to and from event locations. Some funds are available for participants from the global south; please indicate in your application if such support is required.

Please note that the Waterloo Inn, where the conference is being held, has special rates for those attending the conference. Please mention that you would like the CIGI conference rate at the time you make reservation. Other hotel options can be found through the GSN conference page.
